25. Describe the therapeutic concepts of therapeutic neutrality, free association, interpretation, and transference.
Therapeutic neutrality is the idea of a therapist making an environment where a person will not be judged. The therapist is not working towards a specific outcome other than insight and working through the problems.
Free association is the method of looking through the unconscious in which a person will relax and says whatever they are thinking no matter what it may be.
Interpretation is according to page 277 of the textbook is when a an analyst’s noting supposed dream meanings, resistances, and other significant event’s in order to promote insight.
Transference is a how the patient gives the analyst there emotions which are most generally linked to other relationships.
