30. Describe the symptoms and possible causes of the following disorders: Phobic disorders, generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, obsessive- compulsive disorder, somatoform disorders, dissociative disorders, schizophrenic disorders, and mood disorders.
A phobia is an anxiety disorder where a person fears and avoid an object, activity, or a situation. There are many different symptoms that can be experienced the most common are; racing heart, dizziness, shortness of breath, inability to speak, dry mouth and up set stomach or nausea. Others may have an elevated blood pressure, profuse sweating, trembling or shaking and chest pain or tightness. Phobias are most generally genetically or environmentally influenced. Such as children who have someone close to them with a phobia are at risk for developing one. Also they can be caused by distressing events or childhood scares.
Generalized anxiety disorder is when a person is constantly and with an unknown reason tense and uneasy. This disorder is said to be a pathological worry. Most of the patients diagnosed with this anxiety is women. The symptoms are worrying continually, jittery, agitated, and also sleep deprived. A persons concentration is hard to accomplish because of constant worry, leading to trembling, perspiration, and fidgeting. This anxiety also is known for causing depression. Most patients with this have developed it because of having bad childhoods and not being treated how they should have been.
