36. Explain the relationship between size constancy and the Muller- Lyer illusion.
Size constancy allows us to deem the size of an object as having a constant size, no matter the distance we are from it. The Muller- Lyer illusion is an optical illusion which occurs when a line with inward pointing arrowheads appears longer than the equivalent line with outward pointing arrowheads. This shows the relationship in which size constancy, we can try and make the illusion seem as close to the real size although at the same time isn’t. This is just showing how we actually perceive things when they seem the original size. In an experimental result the size constancy and illusion are related when in the normal and reversed illusions.
