Experience sets us up to believe and anticipate a certain outcome of an event. This outcome is known as an expectation which when used, they may give us a perceptual set. A perceptual set, according to page 229 of the textbook, is a set of mental tendencies and assumptions that greatly affect what we perceive. This commonly affects are senses which include hear, taste, touch, and sight. Experience also helps us to form concepts. These concepts are also referred to as schemas. These arrange and analyze data that is abnormal to us. Already formed schemas that can have multiple meanings when looked at from different starting views all have different influences. Many say the contrast between each individuals is kept within the eyes of their beholders. Motivation is thrown in this equation by helping us to want to strive at doing better. It gives us the drive for achieving any goal. Motives also assist with the in leading the way for us to have a multitude of double meaning mental images. Motivation helps us to get where we desire, and to lead a fulfilled life.
