35. Explain the process of depth perception and size constancy.
Depth perception allows us to see different objects in three dimensions even when the images that hit the retina are only two dimensional. This also allows for us to judge or see how far a distance is. Binocular cues are used when in estimating a distance of close by objects. This is shown by when using only one eye it is harder to touch to objects together than when you are using both of your eyes. Our eyes are set about 2.5 inches apart, because of this your retinas see small differences of the how the world is perceived. By using a comparison of the two different images your brain can help to judge the distance between you and a certain object. Due to size constancy we can see objects of having a a constant size, this happens even when the distance between us and the object is varied. This is shown by how when we see a car coming from a few blocks away it look small. Although are size constancy allows to note that the small car coming at us is holding passengers.
